Tell us about what you're excited about learning in your current year studies(125 words)
But this is about “current year studies”?
Shaki’s Version:
Two years ago, I started taking advanced math courses at different universities. I have always been passionate alarkbout mathematics, and by my sophomore year I had completed calculus II, the highest level math course offered at my high school. Seeing my dedication, my advisor helped me take math classes at universities around me. Last year I completed an analytical geometry class at Grossmont University and a statistics class at Dutchess College. This year I was able to enroll in Stanford University’s pre-collegiate multivariable course. And once again, it is my math course that excites me the most. Each lesson builds on the previous knowledge I have accumulated and opens the door to more complex topics. I continue to appreciate exploring new topics in this class.
IDK Whose version
In my current year of studies I am the most excited about the Multivariable Differential Calculus class I am taking at Stanford University. After finishing all the AP math classes that my high school offered two years ago, I sought outside resources to continue my studies in this area. Because of this, I enrolled in Analytic Geometry & Calculus II at Grossmont College and Statistics at Dutchess College. Finally, I was able to take the Multivariable Differential Calculus class at Stanford this semester. In each lesson, I am challenged and intrigued by new concepts. I feel lucky to have been given this chance to pursue my passion for math at this level, and I am looking forward to exploring this field much further as an undergraduate at Stanford University.
Tell us about something you are proud of since you submitted your application.(125 words)
Since I submitted my application, I have been proud of leading my high school group in our regional math competitions. I co-founded the math club at my school two years ago, and since then, it has been amazing to watch how much the group has grown and how much we are able to achieve each year.
How have you grown since you submitted your application? Are there any events, insights, or realizations that have changed how you approach the world around you?(125 words)
This semester, I have been navigating a busy schedule by taking AP and university-level classes, playing sports, applying to colleges, and helping my family. Since the beginning of the school year, I have been trying to excel in all these areas, at times spreading myself thin. A moment of growth came to me when I recently realised that even when I finished my to-do list, there was always more to do. I learned that I couldn't continue putting my health and life in jeopardy. I decided to put non-negotiable time aside for breaks and joy. Just yesterday, I went sledding with my friends. I have noticed that focusing on living a balanced schedule makes me feel more energized and excited about achieving my goals.
Describe any other new information (or unusual circumstances) you would like to share with the admission committee.(125 words)
Since I came to the USA about four years ago, I have been completely independent, taking care of myself and all my needs, both financially and physically. This is because my parents do not speak English, and they recently immigrated to the USA. At times, I have been able to support them while navigating these years of my life as well. This experience has been both rewarding and challenging, but in the end I am proud of who I am today and hope to grow much further through my experiences.
